Made Sports+ more personal by giving fans control over the scores, stories, and updates they cared about most.

Sports+ featured some of the most respected sportswriters in the business, but the mobile experience needed to feel more personal to each fan.

Working closely with Gannett’s in-house team, we designed customizable iOS widgets that gave fans more control over what they saw, when they saw it, and how it showed up on their Home Screen. Fans could follow the sports, stories, and writers they cared about most, choose how content was surfaced, and shape an experience that felt tailored to them.

The U.S. Open became an early opportunity to bring that vision to life and show how personalized content could stand out in a more immediate, useful way.

The result was a more flexible Sports+ app experience built around each fan’s interests — delivering scores, stats, news, and commentary in a way that felt more relevant, timely, and personal.

We also curated a branded photo library exclusively for Sports+ fans to extend that experience across social.

Outcome

Designed a more personal way to follow sports on mobile.
